Wolfkop Steps

This is a short hike on a well maintained clearly marked path with fine views over Constantia to Constantiaberg which may be undertaken on its own or in combination with one or more of the numerous other caches now available in the area.
Park at the Silvermine Gate 2 car park at S 34 05.506 E 018 25.393 (also called Silvermine East or Wolfkop Car Park). There is a R5 parking fee for visitors but free parking for Wildcard holders – however please consider giving a reasonable donation to whoever may be looking after vehicles parked there.
Follow the main jeep track to S 34 05.498 E 018 25.387 and turn left here at the TMNP sign and smaller route sign for Higher Steenberg Peak onto a smaller path. Follow this track a short distance up to S 34 05.459 E 018 25.510 where the path ahead is closed and take a right here at the small sign indicating again Higher Steenberg Peak.
Follow this well maintained and partly stepped path all the way up to the cache area, passing on the way the climbing rock on your right (this is the start of an alternate direct route to the top of Wolfkop) and a very interesting (!?) vertical rock formation in the bush on your left (the location of CapeDoc's 2009 GC2171G Amandla & The Sleeping Dragon cache).
When you reach S 34 05.667 E 018 25.875, leave the main path briefly by a large partially red-marked rock taking a smaller short path (to nowhere in particular!) to the right (west) for approximately 7-8 metres.
The cache, now (after the original was muggled) a small screw-top camo-jar, is hidden at approx 439m elevation at about mid-thigh level in a small ‘cave’ under the large rock on the left side of this small path with a small shrub in front – make sure the ‘cave’ is empty before poking around!!
Kindly make sure the lid of the jar is properly screwed on when replacing the cache so that the contents remain well protected against the elements. Also please ensure correct replacement and concealment of the cache to minimise the risk of future muggling - thanks!
