How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Short walk from the official trail parking area. As usual, there is no need to climb any fences or touch brown bags. You will need to bring your writing implement to sign the log. This is our third attempt at placing a cache in this thug ridden area.

This cache is a good starting point to complete the series of 8 caches on the Thornton-Cookstown Trans Canada Trail. Take a moment to travel to the south on the trail to enjoy the views from the bridges along the way.

See this website for more information: Thornton-Cookstown Trans Canada Trail

We decided to refer to this trail as the Cookstown-Thornton trail (CT) as we started the series from Cookstown. To complete this series consider cycling in the summer or snowmobiling or skiing in the winter. We tried to make all the caches winter accessible. Snow depth may make some difficult to get to.

Each cache started with new small toys. Do not feel guilty if you do not trade. On the other hand, if you take something, leave something. Please do not clutter the caches with broken or rusty items, food items, or liquids that may freeze over the winter.

The prizes for completing the series include logging 8 geocaches, the satisfaction of traversing a trail from end-to-end (16km one-way) and the sights, sounds and fresh country air as you go.
