Goethit er umagnetisk. Farven er gul til gul-orange. Det bruges ogsa som farvestof.
Goethit har sit navn fra den tyske digter Goethe, der ud over at vare digter, politiker
m.m. ogsa var en kendt mineralog og skrev afhandlinger om farver. Kommer man til
Weimar, kan man pa Goethes hus se, at det er malet goethitgult. Goethit er et meget
almindeligt forekommende mineral og dannes i naturen i Danmark.
