We just noticed this walk a couple of days ago we must have passed it loads of times!! This is actually in Green Croft not Stanley!! ...... but it is near enough to Stanley to make it the S of my A-Z!!! LOL
Stanley is a former colliery town and civil parish in County Durham, England. Centred on a hilltop between Chester-le-Street and Consett, it is the second largest town in the district of Derwentside after Consett and lies south west of Gateshead.
Stanley was formerly divided into three distinct settlements β the main town of Stanley and the mining villages of East Stanley and South Stanley. Through a process of gradual expansion, these have become amalgamated into one town, with East and South Stanley no longer officially used as town names (although they are still recognised colloquially). The village of South Moor was historically referred to as West Stanley.
A nice walk through the woods, this is not a circular walk once you have found the cache go back the way you came, we learnt the hard way!!
There is a small thin parking area near to the gates of the walk but you need to reverse out onto a busy road again we found out the hard way......from the given parking co-ords look across the road and slightly right to see a notice board this is your starting point
Parking co-ords N 54 51 023 W 001 43 969
Good luck and have FUN
