Geocache Description:

well done, wyattearp3 & co. for the late-night FTF!!

Zebras crossing…here?? Not likely. However pedestrians do, and a zebra crossing refers to the white stripes painted across the roadway indicating that the pedestrians have the right-of-way…also known as “crosswalks” on this side of the Atlantic.
In the UK, there are zebra crossings at various locations along the street, although not always at the corner. These crossings are flanked by a light pole on either side of the road - lights flashing alternately and poles painted with black and white stripes like a candy cane are an obvious indicator to drivers that they must stop should there be someone in the zebra crossing waiting to “go over the road”.

This cache is honouring Earth Day 2009. “Hang on, where is the connection between a zebra crossing and Earth Day?” you ask. When searching for the optimal coordinates to set up this cache, we were constantly reminded of the reality that the many elements we encounter in our ongoing quest for waypoints are some of the very best reasons why recognition of our planet – the splendid things to be found on Mother Earth… her organic self, vibrating with life…and how we tread upon her day in and day out - is so crucial. All too often, we simply “toddle off” over the road, unaware of the wonderous things that await us on either side…
Now let's not forget to use the zebra crossings with care and always:
"Stop, Look and Listen" (pedestrian safety tip)…

This is a log only cache, please bring your own environmentally friendly writing implement. And as always, please cache discreetly.
