Geocache Description:

A tupperware-type container in upper Wilder. Some steep terrain involved. Great views.

SLOW DOWN

Evil Cow Pie and I were out doing the HPUW series and stopped to take in the beautiful views at this spot and I decided to place a cache here. The cache’s namesake is a warning sign that may or may remain here, nonetheless it is good advice for this section of the trail so I’ll go with it regardless. Additionally, it’s kind of zen advice for life.

I had previously completed the HPUW series (starting here : GC1CB9F) put out by Mayela Mingi but had done it in sections. I’ve been wanting to do the whole series in one day and when Evil Cow Pie came to town for a ‘meet and greet’ and offered to hike Wilder with me the next day, I nudged her into the attempt.

The whole trip from the parking at Graham Hill Rd (N 37° 00.885 W 122° 02.077) to Wilder Ranch parking lot (aprox - N 36° 57.654 W 122° 04.985) was about 11.5 miles. We traveled the route pretty much as put forth by MM. The only deviation was a little route finding (read: bush-whacking) at the river crossing sections of Henry Cowell trying to find a way to cross the widest section without getting wet (we did!).

The Cache

The cache is an Tupperware-type container full of pretty decent
swag.

Getting
There

To get to the cache you can park at Graham hill Road and walk down as we did or, more sanely, you can park at Wilder Ranch Parking lot and hike up. The best bet for parking is at the main parking lot at Wilder Ranch State Park, especially if you plan to be out for a while. It’s safe and it supports the park system. From there walk to the farm then under the walking ‘underpass’ out into the inland side of Wilder._Alternately, you can park on Highway 1 (for free) near the underpass and drop down onto the path below via the de facto trail.

Congrats to JustJoe! for the FTF!
