Geocache Description:

6:00pm Dinner at Johnnies, Geocoin trading and socializing.

We have seen them. We have traded them. We even have owned them. Now is a time to come together to talk about the many different Geocoins that some own. Swap a few TB's and a few stories. But most of all enjoy hanging out with some fellow cachers and some good food.

So why am I calling this USS Backyard?

As a bonus to a Geocoin event, I ask you to join me for a retirement dinner. As a sailor departs for shore for the final time. Some call it retiring to the USS Backyard. Retiring after 20 years of service is an honor. It is a time to share with his or her family and friends in a ceremony and / or dinner. Please come and share an evening with all my friends. I will unofficially retiring May 13, 2009. My official date of retirement is July 31, 2009.

Do you know that some military commands have their own coins? They are called "Challenge Coins." I have one that I purchased during my last deployment. I was informed if I did not have one at a party that I was attending, it would be very expensive on my part. At this party, if someone came to your table and tapped their coin on the table, whoever did not produce their coin purchased the round of drinks for the table. If everyone showed their coin, the challenger who tapped the coin has to purchase the round of drinks. I just hope no one goes about tapping their Geocoins at the event expecting rounds to be served. We'll save that for Fall Fest.

Just a brief history: My mother's father spent 30 years in the Navy and her brother-in-law spent 20 years, plus his 2 sons did 4 and 6. My father did 21 years. My brother did 5 years. When I complete my 20 years this summer, this will bring our family to 101 years of Naval service. I have had other members of my family in other branches of service. I have a cousin currently in the Air Force and my sister's son is in the Texas National Army Guard.

Please let me know if you can attend. I would like to have a Head Count on how many are coming.
