Don't forget to Log it! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future (within 60 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Hike is about 1 mile (round trip) from the parking lot at the nature Center. Trails are only open during daylight hours, NO BIKES or DOGS. Watch out for thorns.

Most things about this wildlife preserve are very natural and belong here, unless you count the trails, nearby manmade structure and pond straight ahead. The cache may be hard to spot in its natural setting, the woods are full of them.

This is my first cache placed and is in honor of my caching mentors and inspiration, Team Namthcof.

Please do not cross over the train tracks to the caches in Goodells Park...Do them seperately, the caches over there are a fabulous series in and of themselves!! Thanks!

Trails are open daily from dawn to dusk to the public. The main building is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May - October the building is open 11-3 on the 2ed Saturday of the month. See the website for details. Trail maps are available outdoors. The trail maps are available in t he outdoor kiosk when the building is closed.
There are several caches at the Pine River Nature Center to expose people to the beauty and tranquility of this St. Clair County hidden gem! We hope you enjoy a few hours in the PRNC and enjoy the series. Caches are all very close to the trails so please observe the 90° rule, remember there is NO need for ANY bushwacking!
The mission of the Pine River Nature Center is to promote the awareness, understanding and stewardship of the Blue Water Area's natural heritage. The center provides hands-on science education programming for schools correlated with the Michigan Curriculum Framework. It also offers outdoor recreation and environmental education opportunities for area residents.
Owned and operated by the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency, the primary purpose of the nature center facility is educational field trips for local schools. Programs are offered free to schools located in St. Clair County.
The Pine River Nature Center's three miles of trails are open daily from dawn until dusk for public use. Occasional Scouting and public programs are also offered.

Dogs, horses, bikes and motorized vehicles are not permitted. The Pine River Nature Center is a nature preserve intended for educational purposes. Please help us maintain and protect the natural area.
The nature center property is 90-acres in size and includes mature hardwood forest, wetland and prairie habitats.
The meandering Pine River has cut deep ravines that afford dramatic views of the floodplain below.
During May and June, the forest floor is filled with a spectacular spring wildflower display that includes large-flowered trillium, mayapple and wild geranium.
The diverse habitats are home to a wide variety of wildlife, such as white-tailed deer and mink. More than 70 species of birds have been sighted on the property, including great blue heron, wood duck and warblers that only frequent the deep woods.
