WAKEFIELD CATHEDRAL Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.

Guidelines:**"You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."**

If you wish to contact me about this cache please use my Email address below my signature and quote the GC number of the cache. Please note this system is not infallible and I may miss any such mail.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

One for shoppers. The cache is a small tub not suitable for coins or TBs as, although it's magnetic, it will not take the weight. Log only please.

THE CATHEDRAL. The Cathedral stands on the site of a Saxon church in the centre of Wakefield. Although the construction on the North nave arcade started circa 1150, the present building was mainly built during the 14th and 15th centuries in the Perpendicular style. The 15th century spire is 247 feet ( 75m ) tall and is the highest spire in Yorkshire. The Cathedral also has 14 bells. The building was restored during the 19th century by George Gilbert Scott, with 23 stained glass windows being created by the Victorian artist Charles Eamer Kemp. In 1888, the Diocese of Wakefield was created and All Saints church became the Diocese's Cathedral. In 1992 Wakefield Cathedral became only the second cathedral in Britain to form a girls choir.

Because of the muggle density and the extremely poor reception of the area, the hint below is a COMPLETE SPOILER.

UPDATE APRIL 2014.... SADLY, THIS CACHE IS FREQUENTLY MUGGLED. I'LL KEEP REPLACING IT BUT IF YOU CAN'T FIND IT, ASSUME IT'S GONE. LOOK AT THE TWO OLD SIGNS ON THE NEARBY WALL AND E-MAIL ME THE SUM OF THE TWO LARGE NUMBERS THEN PLEASE CLAIM A FIND. If challenged, please just explain that you're Geocaching and show the cache note if it would help.

THE CACHE IS NOT ON CATHEDRAL GROUNDS.
