Park at N 41° 43.822, W 072° 30.230. This cache is part of the
Buckingham Reservoir series of 13 caches. Most of the cache
locations are on or near well-worn trails, however, some of them
may be extra challenging during certain seasons of the year.
The path to the beginning of this geocache goes through a wet,
swampy area. We advise staying on the path/road, because
bushwhacking around is even wetter.
BuckResv - Deer Pond is a nightime cache. We have placed a trail
of reflectors to guide you to the cache from the starting
coordinates. (The trail follows the easiest route through the
woods.)
The coordinates mark the beginning of the reflector
trail. You must follow this trail to the cache, as explained
below:
Look for two small reflectors that are yellow / orange / red,
one above the other, which mark the beginning of the trail. They
are about fifteen feet up in a tree.
After these first two, look for a single reflector about fifteen
feet up in another tree. All of the rest are the same, until you
get to the end of the trail, which is marked by two red reflectors,
one over the other. The geocache is nearby.
With all of these reflectors, you should probably bring a pretty
strong flashlight!
You can easily retrieve the cache without disturbing the natural
surroundings. Please do your best to return the cache to its
original hiding place.
There is an abundance of wildlife in the area. It’s quite
possible to encounter beaver, bobcats, coyotes, deer, fishers, red,
grey and yellow foxes, four varieties of owls, snapping turtles,
timber rattlesnakes, various water snakes, weasels and the very
rare wandering bear. Exercise caution and remember that this is
their home.
