The meaning of the name of this cache might not be obvious (unless you live locally) but all will become clear as you explore the stages.
The cache is a snap & lock box with the usual trinkets
We planted this cache in spring, when it was easily accessible. In high summer you might need a machete to get through the bracken!
This is a 3-stage Multi-Cache. The published co-ordinates are in a free car park, the Forestry Commission Errwood Hall car park. This car park is sometimes closed but much more free parking is available a short distance away at N53 16.656 W001 58.870.
Stage 1 - N53 16.236 W001 059.011 - Notice Board in Car Park
Do have a look at the blue noticeboard - you'll be visiting some of the places on the small map and following the woodland walk. However, the information you require from this stage is at the entrance to the car park where there is a sign with a telephone number. The number is:
0162A DBx44y C=x+y
NOTE: AS THE NOTICEBOARD IS MISSING IN ACTION, THE NUMBER YOU NEED IS 01623-822447
Stage 2 - N53 16.189 W001 59.351 - Errwood Hall Ruins
Standing in the ruins, facing South, you will be looking at the only remaining wall of the Hall.
It has a number of windows, some are arched, and some are rectangular. You need to note "E", the number of Arched windows.
Leaving Stage 2, don't follow your GPS arrow just yet!
To the south of the ruins you will see a small flight of stone steps. Go up these and follow the path as it curves round the left of the hill.
You will pass through a pair of large stone gateposts; then a little further on, at some ruins you get to a wooden signpost. Turn right on the path towards Foxlow Edge. Very soon after making this turn there are at least three small tracks going uphill on the right leading to a broader path which will take you gently up and around the hill to stage 3.
Stage 3 - N53 16.187 W001 59.512 - The Burial Ground
And this is all the Grimshawes left behind...
Elizabeth Anne Braddock was FG years old.
Use the letters ABCDEFG which you have gathered in the previous stages to calculate the coordinates for the cache, which is hidden at N53 16.FGB W001 5C.EAD
If you have collected the information correctly, then at Stage 3 the final cache is less than 300 feet away.
