Geocache Description:

Welcome to the 1st Annual Progressive BBQ for Charity Event Cache.

The above coordinates are bogus. Please start at 5 pm at Stop1 in the extra waypoints below.

For those of you who may not a familiar with the progressive BBQ concept. Here is a brief explaination. We start by having an appetizer course at the home of SNSGKrieger. Then we will be driving to the home of Rider_Fan for the Salad course. The third stop is the home of Scratch1 and the main course of burgers and hot dogs. The final stop is the home of Two_Hotdogs for the dessert course.

This event is yet another great chance to get together and swap caching stories and adventures, TB's and geocoins. It is also a great chance to support Pilot172's KiHEW's program.

Here is a brief description that Pilot172 has provided:

Kihew meaning Eagle in Cree is the name of our outdoor ed club and group of cachers. We do things both as part of the school day and in our 5 day a week after school programme. With 8 donated GPS, teachers are using the devices to teach math, science, technology and geography. Describing their use of the GPS and caching has been integrated in Langauage Arts too. The classes with the Smart Board are becoming very adept at Google Earth. For the students at this inner city school, their favourite activity is geocaching! Future plans include more trips, work with maps and launching a series of TBs. The students are also interested in planting more caches. Their first cache was Blue Mountain's First.

If there were extra funds (as in your donation), there are numerous projects we could plan including: purchasing a number of TBs for a KIHEW launch, mapping softaware like OZIExpllorerrand paying for bus trips for a class so that in small groups they can complete a series of caches. Did you know that the cheapest bus to a nearby site like Diefenbaker Park or any area along the river costs about $76.?? Future
plans include: using the GPS and creating some unofficial caches during the Grd 8 camping trip and taking the 2 classes from Grd5-8 who have not used the GPS out to the river area to use them. More staff are increasingly comfortable in their use too.

This event will be held outside, and may be cancelled in the case of inclimate weather. Please stay tuned to this page if the forecast should look like rain. Please bring your own lawn chairs as well.

It is important that we get fairly accurate sense of how many cachers will be attending, so please let us know. We are suggesting a donation of $10 per person to help cover the cost of the food. Any excess funds above our costs will be donated to the KiHEW program.

We would like to thank this year's hosts for their willingness to host the various stops, and for all the upcoming hard work. We would also like to thank this year's exclusive sponsor LANDSHARKZ for their donation of TB's and bracelets for the kids !
