Geocache Description:

This is a SideTracked cache near to Thorne North Station, but outside the station boundaries. It is as the name suggests, to the northern side of the town, close to the M18, and should provide a distraction for travellers in the area, with a park opposite and a pub nearby.

About the SideTracked Series
We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!). But what about public transport users? SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations.

SideTracked started at Evesham station on August 10th 2007, placed by schnarff & bikermel76. It took a while to get started, but is now spreading across the country!

It struck us as a bit odd that one of the main things Thorne advertises as you enter the town is that it has a railway station - you would have thought there would be something else to advertise to travellers and tourists! However, bearing in mind Thorne is quite a small town, it actually has 2 stations - Thorne South and Thorne North.

Thorne North is on the line between Doncaster and Hull, after Hatfield and Stainforth and Kirk Sandall stations. The line splits after Hatfield, and services go either North and then to Hull or South and then onto Cleethorpes.

The Thorne North cache is a quick cache and dash if using the station and also readily accessible to all in the area too.
