Geocache Description:

A 32 km (20 mile) Bimble along the banks of the River Idle, River Trent and The Chesterfield canal. A haven of much wildlife including Bats, Deer, Butterflies, Barn owls, Herons and a great deal more, best seen early morning or in the evening.

Firstly, a big thank you for all the great comments left in many of the cache log books and on the web pages. It makes all that hard work worthwhile. All the caches are named after some of the most fantastic places I have been to, and journeys I have been on. One of the earliest was cycling from John o’ Groats to Lands End at the age of 16 with a mate from school, 35 days and nearly 1500miles (We took the scenic route), and one of the last was climbing The Lotus Flower Tower in Canada’s Northwest Territories a 3000ft vertical rock face which took 2 days to climb and 6 hours to abseil back down. Then Came the wife and kids.

The Multi Bit:- All you have to do is travel the little circuit, collecting all the numbers, add up the 2 sets of 11 ( > ^ ) and this should give a 10 figure grid ref for the cache location. Easy.

The caches you will require are, all of the 20 Treasure boxes as well as 'Seventy Nine', and 'Away From It All' (By kind permission of Deerstalker and now adopted by myself)

The cache:- – A 2.5L clip lock container, which contains a log book pen and pencil. The Cache is also currently a prison for the Dreaded Knitted Ones. If anyone else sees any of these Dastardly Creatures and dares to retrieve them from other locations, please feel free to drop them off at this prison.

Parking:- – Gringley pumping station, West Stockwith car park (Free), Gringley Top Lock, Drakeholes and Everton.

Food & Drink:- on route – Haxey Gate Bridge Pub, West Stockwith Pub, Drakeholes Pub and Everton Pub. (Some not open on Mondays)

Terrain &ndash:- Grassy tow path, flood defenses and farm roads, ideal for mountain bikes ( 4 hrs. + searching + pub stops ) or a long stroll. Good Luck. The grass on the north side of the loop can get V long in the summer as it is seldom cut and has little traffic

Note:- A small section of the loop is a public footpath, and bikes should not be used. But saying this, many people do without any complaints from the locals. Other sections say 'Private Road' i.e. no cars. The farmers always give me a friendly nod when they see me on my mountain bike.
