Geocache Description:

Congrats to Colin&Daddy on the FTF!

This is the first stop on a fairly tough trek (if you go to the end). The rating is pretty much based on the trip here & back. You can easily make this grab if you intend on staying down here for the rest of your life. If that's the case I rate this a 2.

Welcome to the bottom of Fall Creek, a popular destination for the local canyoneers. Fall creek offers many cool swimming holes & beautiful falls but this is the only one you can reach without climbing gear.

Right after I pulled into the parking area (N34 17.842 W118 10.188) a carload of canyoneers piled out with all their gear. We chatted a bit & discussed our plans; they were going up the the top of these falls to rappel down while I would be taking my bike to the bottom of Big Tujunga Cyn. and hiking from there.

The bike thing wasn't that great of an idea. The road down is very rocky, with lots of hairpin turns so my speed was kept down. I think it only probably saved me about a half hour tops.

To find the cache: If you face the falls and turn to your left, there's a tree up the slope behind you. Look behind it.

The view FROM the cache

It might be more fun to backpack down here & camp at the Fall Creek Trail camp and make a week end out of it. I intend to try that this summer.
