St. Leodegarius Traditional Cache
Jacaru & Wemnog: Due to the ongoing removal of my caches by one or two mindless cachers from the East Midlands caching (community) regrettably I use the term lightly ~ (at least GROEP had the decency to tell you what they had done) I have decided to archive my listings. The good news is that this gives other decent cachers a chance to put new ones out and that will mean more for me to find and so my smily numbers will increase.
PLEASE NOTE to those above mentioned cachers. Don't feel that you have won some kind of battle or however you think of it in your little world, I'm still around and still caching ALL around the East Midlands.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great
deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to
hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of
the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required.
Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have
a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other
finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding
the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log. St.
Leodegarius Church, is a parish church in the Church of England. It
dates from the 1180s but has been heavily restored and rebuilt
between 1858 and 1859 by Arthur Wilson, and then when the tower
collapsed in 1859, by Thomas Allom. The tower houses a ring of 8
bells from the firm of John Taylor and Co in Loughborough dating
from 1921. The church had an organ by Henry Jones installed in
1902. This was destroyed in an arson attack in 1974 and a
replacement organ by J. W. Walker & Sons Ltd was installed in
1977. It is one of only four churches named after St. Leodegarius.
The other three are Ashby St Ledgers, Hunston, West Sussex and
Wyberton. St. Leodegarius was a Benedictine bishop and martyr. He
was educated at Poitiers, France, and in 653 became abbot of St.
Maxentius. When King Clovis II died, Leodegarius assisted the
regent, Queen Bathildes, and became bishop of Autun in 659.
Erchinoald, the mayor of the royal palace, had Leodegarius
imprisoned, blinded, and murdered. Leodegarius is revered in France
as St. Leger. The church is Grade II* listed by the Department for
Culture, Media & Sport as it is a particularly significant
building of more than local interest. The cache is located behind
St. Leodegarius church.. A lovely little church, unfortunately the
gardens and graveyard surrounding it are locked up at night, to
deter vandals no doubt. Only small, the cache will only take small
exchange items, on placing it contained a small brooch, a Variety
Club golden heart and a marble + the log book. Take your own
pen/pencil to sign the log please and if possible do add something
if you take something.
