The Hike or Bike series is intended to provide a multi-stage cache
where you can get out and walk or bike (or roller blade) and enjoy
the waterfront trail. This is the 9th cache in the series as it
travels the waterfront trail through Oshawa. The entire series now
covers sections of the trail moving in a westerly direction from
Oshawa to Pickering.
Sections of the waterfront trail in this area of Oshawa will
take you along residential streets which are well marked as bike
paths. Some sections of the trail are gravel and in order to get to
the final you will have to get off the paved trails and travel on a
secondary foot path used by locals for walking or biking. This
trail is not as well maintained and may be muddy in sections. A
trail is still visible and is well used by dogs and their owners.
You will not be able to rollerblade along this path and may have to
get off the bike in some spots. Alternate routes (city streets)
will take you most of the way to the cache. The difficulty rating
is based on the distance you will travel in one direction.
Distance between start and finish is less then 4 km (as the crow
flies) one way but may be closer to 4km if hiking or biking.

Second Waypoint
Add up all of the years on the historical plaque closest to your
location (HHHH). Divide this number by 4 and add 58.75 = JJJJ
Take your original number (HHHH) and put into the following
equation (HHHH - 7) / 10 + 21 = KKK

Third Waypoint
Look for a film canister with a set of coordinates for the next
waypoint.
Fourth Waypoint
Look for two blue signs with white letters. Count all of the
letters on the two blue signs = LL
