The parking coordinates below will take
you near a Shoe Tree on Mabel Lake Road which marks the trail in.
(Don't go across the bridge.) Close to 7km (just past marker 17km)
from the Mabel Lake Provincial Campground, this is an excellent
cache for kids and for the young at heart, and is well worth the
extra drive.
Bring your camera as there are
numerous "nursery rhyme/fairy tale/fantasy" displays in the
surrounding forest right down to the beach. You will need to spend
some time here to see everything. We have made our own display so
the cache is in the open. The coords should take you to where we
placed our display, but there is the possiblity that the creators
of this Mystic Trail will move it, so you might have to look for it
using the clues. Please make sure you replace the cache within the
display the same so that the container doesn't show.
When placing the cache in late April,
we were slightly disappointed as we found the displays a little
dilapilated, but when we discovered the area last summer (we assume
after its spring cleanup by the creative Gyro Club volunteers) it
was absolutely delightful! We noticed a donation box by the closed
off footbridge so feel free to donate if you wish. Thanks Gyro
Club!
Come for a "Sunday Drive" if you
aren't camping out this way, as there are other caches you can do
on your way .... great Lumby & Shuswap Falls caches, our two
caches at Mabel Lake, and a cache by a waterfall a few kilometers
from this cache! Maybe you could place another cache along the way
too. Oh yes . . . this is boat accessible too!
