Occasionally (like when this cache was placed), the nest contains Bald Eagles. If you go during their breeding season (approximately March thru July), you are pretty much guaranteed to spot at least one of the adults on the nest, on a nearby power tower, or flying around the reservoir. The chicks, when they're small, are hard to spot unless they poke their downy selves up out of the depths of the nest. Should be fun to watch them learn to fly. Don't forget to bring your binoculars or spotting scope. |

The eagles built a new nest for the 2011 breeding season (see arrow in photo). I've added a waypoint indicating where I was standing when I took the photo. |
The cache is a 35mm film canister. No need to tear anything apart or cross any fences. When you replace it, check to be sure it is accessible to the next cacher!
There's parking for a few cars about 400' up the road. There's not a lot of traffic on this narrow, winding road but watch and listen for vehicles (cars, motorcycles, bicycles), both for your own safety and to not compromise the cache.
