Geocache Description:

Situated just off the A1 at the junction with the A19 and on the road to Ponteland.

The Milkhope centre was once a working farm on the Blagdon Estate. The sturdy Northumbrian stone buildings have been extensively refurbished and are now divided into many specialist shops. All around the centre you can see the results of the Delhi opencast mine. After 6 years and the removal of 2 million tons of coal the end is now in sight. The large hole once as deep as a tower block and nearly half mile long is being filled in and the area landscaped. Due to be finished late 2009 and the whole site restored by summer 2010.
Parking is available in the centre. There is a one way system in operation so drive around and park anywhere but the very last area is the most convenient to the cache.
To locate the cache walk back towards the main road. Just before the main road you will see a gate leading to the old road. Pass through this gate and follow your GPS.
The land owner has asked that people do not enter the wooded area's on either side of the road.
