you will need to do some walking, maybe 1/2 mile 1 way. It's all a flat logging road, with no bushwacking.
This is close to Heywire cache, so you can use the same parking area. The cache is about 1/2 miles in, so it's not that bad. I walked these logging roads with Maggie my best hiking buddy. She was always up for a hike, and we would walk to the end of this road. It's around 2-3 miles one way. There are great blackberries along this road at the right time of the year. The long slender berries you only find in the hills.
Maggie was my Black Lab of over 9 years. She came to us through some people who didn't know how big she was going to get. 80+ pounds of love'n Lab is a big female. She was around 10-11 months when we got her, and I knew I wanted her the moment I saw her. She went backpacking with a high school buddy and me in summer of 07'. We hiked to Lake Dorthy, Deer, Bear, and Snoqualmie lakes, and I thought I would have to carry her back home. But she make it, she was tough and determined. the picture is her at the outlet of Lake Dorthy. A Lab in the water, who'da thunk....
Maggie was limping the next year after a family trip to NorthEast Washington. She was later found to have Bone cancer, and what looked like a tumor near her heart. As big a heart as she had, it was hard for me to believe she was dying. I had her put down on November 11th 2008. One of the hardest days of my life. It was her birthday that day, my best friend rested in peace after enduring such pain. My tears still flow.... My heart still hurts.... I miss you Maggie
