Geocache Description:

This one of a few caches I have placed as a THANK YOU to some of the local cachers for their friendship and affording me many FTF opprtunities. It's about time I gave something back.

I have driven by these things every day for about 2 years and always wondered what they were, and why they were there. After talking to a few folks at EBMUD, and other utilities, the best information I could gather is that they are vents.

The main water lines are under tremendous pressure. The greatest enemy to pressured water mains is air. In these East Bay hills, the mains vary in elevation along with the terrain. The high and low spots can trap air that must be relieved. These are, obviously, at the "high" point. There are more of these to the southwest along Crow Canyon Road near the "low" point.

While scouting a location for hide here, I was a little surprised to find this great spot to place it. This is a well hidden container that is not over the fence. Easy pull over parking. This shouldn't be too difficult to seasoned cachers.

A $5 Starbucks Gift Card goes to the FTF.

Congrat's to GeoRedheads for the FTF!!!
