May Day brings back fond memories of making May Baskets. May baskets are usually small and filled with flowers or treats, then left at someone's doorstep. The basket giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the giver. As kids, we used plastic ice cream buckets, filled with popcorn and candy for the neighbors. We walked to their homes, picking purple and white violets along the way. Placing the basket and flowers at the front door, we rang the bell, hid quickly, waiting for the neighbors to answer the door. This multi-cache is located at Willow Park, at the intersection of Hwys 16 and 63. The park, once know as “Jennings Junk Yard,” now includes a paved trail, pavilion, frisbee golf, and kid-friendly fishing access to the Spring Valley Creek. Parking is available. Enjoy the walk and Happy May Day!
