WanAus 82 - Narrogin Memorial Park Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

WanderingAus: I can't get to this cache before November or December, so it's time for it to go.

I can't remove any remaining geo-litter from the site, because it's obvious the magnetic mint tin has not been found by MANY experienced cachers (at least two), so it must be gone, and I wouldn't find it either with my lack of experience.

Geocache Description:

An easy find somewhere in the local memorial park.

I was Wandering by on day two of a cache placing run through the SouthWest and Great Southern Regions of WA and found an aircraft propellor and a replica torpedo in the Memorial Park next to the Narrogin RSL.

I immediately thought of claiming GA1381 RSL War Artefacts/Memorabilia by MADSTARS.

MADSTARS offers extra points for his cache if the finder also places a cache on the War Artefact, so I had come equipped for just such an eventuality. After a quick saturation check (nothing within 1.66 kilometres by my calculation) I determined that I could place a cache nearby, and I had come equipped for just such an eventuality.

When I wandered by on a maintenance run in January 2016 I found that three guns had been added to the park.

Update 6 Jan 2016
The cache is now a magnetic Eclipse mint tin.

The cache is not at the above coords, but they will take you to the aircraft propellor. There is a plaque on the base. Using the code A=1, B=2, ...Z=26, add the values of the first name of the person who unveiled it to get a two digit number = A.
Add the values of the last name of the person who unveiled it to get a two digit number = B.

At WP2 you will find a plaque on the replica torpedo (you might be able to find it without even using the gpsr ).
Add the values of the first name of the person who dedicated it to get a two digit number = C.
Add the values of the last name of the person who dedicated it to get a two digit number = D.

The cache will be found at S32 56.0(A + B - 82) E117 10.(((A + B + C + D) * 2) - 14) - NOTE - This is inside the park, if your calculations take you out of the park check your calculations.

Please treat this area with respect and take a moment or two to reflect on the service of those these items commemorate, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Lest We Forget

I agree with MADSTARS on the importance of introducing our children to the RSL's and telling them what the men and women of the armed services did for us and our country, and the freedom we enjoy today. I look to those geocachers who hunt in company with their children and/or grandchildren to further this aim, so that they too Will Remember Them.

This cache is part of a series leading towards my GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia cache. There is an RWA number in the back of the log book. You will need to record this number in the format 82? (from WanAus 82 and ? for the RWA number) for future reference.

This is just a suggestion, but it may help you to keep track of the RWA numbers.
Every cache page has "*Personal Cache Note" *Click to enter a note, just above Geocache Description:
You could either add the code to each individual cache,
or add all numbers to GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia.

If you are heading out to hunt down some of my more remote GC1QYV5 WanAus 89 - Roaming Western Australia or GC29MXD WanAus 179 - Discover Western Australia caches, where the cache density is very low, why not consider taking a few prepared containers with you, stocked with log book and swaps etc, and when you spot one of those places that make you think "that would be a good place for a cache", place one of your own. Just check that there isn't a cache within 160 metres, and please don't place a micro in the bush where you could easily conceal an ammo box or Milo tin.
