Construction on this bridge started in 2007 and it was originally due to open in May 2008 but was beset by problems.
Progress stalled while the connections were tested and the opening date was moved to November 2008.
Stirling's new pedestrian bridge, at last, was officially opened on Saturday 2nd May 2009.
It spans the railway line and links the city centre with Forthside.
Various special celebrations marked the opening. A number of people with the name William Wallace, along with the Provost, led the way across for the first time.
On Forthside there was a funfair, free tasters from the nearby restaurants, street entertainment, karaoke plus performances from Stageworx and Active Stirling.
Like it or not, it is a spectacular sight, lit up at night but during the day the views of the Castle, the Wallace Monument and the Ochil Hills are quite stunning.
