Dick Merrill's Bench Traditional Cache
RoanQ: This cache hasn't been found in some time so I am going to
archive it as I no longer can climb to it's location.
Sorry to lose it as it is another one with a lovely view and well worth the hike.

A Kahn Ranch Cache
Moving on and up the Hitchcock Loop, another interesting area catches my eye. This one is VERY interesting because one can sit down and rest a minute before continuing on. Unfortunately, I do not know the history of this gentleman and if someone who reads this does know, please get in touch with me so we all can learn some history.
There is a wonderful plaque in the bench that reads: "Growing old isn't for sissies". "Given in celebration of Dick Merrill's 70th Birthday by his children: Tom, Annie, Beth & Jack. February 23, 2001".
It appears that this gentleman liked to hike this trail or perhaps he lived close by, so when you find this, sit for a minute, enjoy the view and toast a sip of water or what ever you have, to him.
