The cache is on the edge of a private wood called Deakin Yard; however, there is no yard! Deakin Yard is thought to have been named after a man that may have been buried there. It is also said - by Jen Darling of walking book fame - to have been a fox covert and a plantation. Today the wood contains oak, ash, sycamore and holly.
You can park on the road and the cache is on a public footpath which runs alongside the fence on the edge of some pretty woodland near to Cheshire villages of Antrobus near to Frandley and Comberbach. The beautiful village of Great Budworth is also nearby. There you will find half-timbered houses, an impressive parish church, a village pub and an excellent tea-room.
We have moved the cache a little way since first placing the cache and it is now a smaller pot with a screw-top lid. Within the cache is a traditional log.
The cache is on a 5 mile walk which is described in Jen Darling's book More Pub Walks in Cheshire & Wirral. However, you could just park a car on the road and take a 5 minute walk to the cache; head for the telecoms mast and then hone-in with your GPS.
Do have a detour to the tea-room at Lower Westage Farm near Great Budworth; you can take your dog and sit in the garden. They have gorgeous home-made cakes and ice cream. Its open most months of the year except in the winter-time.
