Geocache Description:

A beautiful small trout pond.

I thought that I would combine a couple of my favorite outdoor sports into one this spring/summer. That is Geocaching and fishing (fresh water and salt water). Both sports have brought me to some beautiful places. I will probably post up a number of hides this spring/summer as I work my way around to several of my favorite fishing holes.

My first spring/summer fishing geocache is at beautiful Lily Pond in New Gloucester. This is a beautiful thirty eight acre pond stocked with Rainbow Trout. According to IFW they stocked the pond with 300 10” Rainbow Trout in 2008. This pond has phenomenal growth rates for Rainbow Trout. It is not uncommon to catch Rainbow Trout up to 20” out of this pond.

Fishing Report on day of placement: 5/3/2009. The water appears to be still a little too cold to get anything to come to the surface.

Cache:
The cache is a small lock n’ lock container with a log book, pencil, and some small swag. Sorry no FTF prize in this cache.

Directions:
Take RTE 202/4/100 out of the town of Gray. Take a left on to Bald Hill Road. After about .2 miles the road splits. Take Snow Hill Road to the left. It is about 1 mile to the entrance to the boat ramp for the pond. See waypoints for boat ramp entrance and parking.

Good Luck!
