Along the West Ashley Greenway
The West Ashley Greenway is a 10.5 mile trail constructed atop
an old railroad bed. While largely residential in nature, the
westernmost section traverses a salt marsh and offers outstanding
water views and birdwatching galore.
To access the cache, park off of Main Road, just north of the
Johns Island connector, on McLeod Mill Road. Coming south on Main
Road from US-17, McLeod Mill Rd. is a right turn that loops
around and goes under Main Road (see trailhead/parking coordinates
below).
The cache is very close to the trailhead, but not directly
adjacent to the trail. Boots are recommended if it has recently
rained. The cache is small, with room for only tiny trade items. I
have left a Dutch geocoin for the FTF. Enjoy the scenery!
