The largest artificial lake of Zalaegerszeg, the lake of Gébárt arose from two streams on the north of the city in 1975. The 31 acre large pool has been a popular recreation area amongst the citizens since it was established.
As this lake has been artificially drawn, it has a typical U shape and there are sights all along the lakeside.
On the southern part at the dam, the Handicraft House offers you the opportunity to visit exhibitions, to learn about the culture of Göcsej and to try yourself in different cratfs . Availability is subject to opening hours.
Not far from there, you will find the Fehér Hattyú (White Swan) pub, a place often visited by anglers - nice prices, open terrace, some seats available inside.
It is worth taking a look at the flood gate, the water above the necessary level is led to the St Márton stream. Both banks of the stream host an abstract open-air sculpture park of Gébárt. Near here a chapel is being built just now.
You can walk on both sides of the lake, the longer west side is preferred by anglers, the east side gives access to the peninsula through the bridge. On your way, note the thermal water reaching the lake, this part never freezes even during winters. The Gébárt Lake Beach is on the peninsula, as well as the Aquaterma Thermal Village and Camping. Not far, you will also find the Aquacity complex and the in-door Thermal Bath.
The distance is around 1200 meters. On the east-end of the lake, in the wood near the path you will find the 2. cache with the 2. part of the password. Be careful.
