Ribbungparken Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

The cache is a painted lock-tight plastic box, located in Ribbungparken, in Ekeberskrenten

Ribbungparken is located between Ribbunggata and Egnehjemveien in the hillside between Gamlebyen and Ekeberg.
Upside of the park in the east, you will find a garden town in english style, called "Arctanderbyen" after Sofus Arctander, mayor in Oslo, who in 1907 invited architects to a competition for designing new homes for workers in this area. The garden town was designed by the architects Morgenstierne and Eide, and was built in 1910-1911.

These 29 homes were built as one of many results of the "Egne Hjem" (Own Homes) movement. "Egne Hjem" was a collection of projects, working for building better homes with garden possibilities for the labour class. Egne Hjem built houses as a co-operative, and after the building period was finished, the co-operative was divided into self-owned units. This was different from the later co-operative housing associations, where ownership keeps being collective,as for 40% of Oslos homes today
