Geocache Description:

You are looking for a 2x4 LnL at the base of a tree.

On this spot from 1859 to 1905 was the Acton Campgrounds. The campgrounds consisted of a hotel, pavillion, lake and cottages. A fire in 1905 destroyed the pavilllion and 110 cottages. That seems to be the end of the campgrounds. We didn't find anything that would suggest the scope of the operation that existed here more than 100 years ago. The property is now part of the Indy Parks syetem and may be developed in the furture. There is more info about the campground here:http://www.indyparksfoundation.org/news/index.asp?p=107 There are 3 caches in this park at this time. Enjoy the walk around the 23 acres of this Indy park. Parking: There are two spots on Acton Rd at the "main' entrance to the park and a new paved lot on Southport Rd. If you park in the paved lot, you will have to ford the creek for one of the caches or walk back north on Action road to cross the creek. . **** BE CAREFUL AS THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON THESE COUNTRY ROADS****
