Huntington Beach Landmark - Nude Dude Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If the cache owner addresses the issues that lead to archival and contacts me within a reasonable period of time (6-8 weeks), it may be possible to unarchive the cache.

Geocache Description:

A classic surfer statue in Huntington Beach.

The official name of this statue is 'Ultimate Challenge', but when I was growing up in Huntington Beach, we all just called it 'Nude Dude' and I suspect that many other locals did too. This bronze statue of an unnamed naked surfer was created in 1976 by artist Edmond Shumpert. More than 20 years later, Shumpert would also create the life-size bronze statue of Duke Kahanamoku standing in front of Huntington Surf and Sport's Surfers' Hall of Fame on the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street.

When acquired by the city, the statue became the inaugural member of the Huntington Beach Public Art Program, which now includes 20 sites throughout the city, with more in development. It is one of the most photographed statues of surfing in California

You are looking for a nano sized container that blends in fairly well. No room for trackables or trading items. You may need a TOTT to get the log out of the container. The cache is NOT a sprinkler! Parking is close but you may need to feed a meter. Good luck!
