Cache is located beyond the meadow at the top of a steep 1 mile
switchback trail. You are looking for a 1.5L Lock-n-Lock. Reason I
placed this cache up top with the other cache, Alta Lake mountain
goat (GC122DW) was to give cachers and hikers not one but two
reasons to dare make the trek. I also increased the overall ratings
to reflect the same as Mountain Goat Cache.Follow Alta Lake road
into the state park. About 1/4 mile into the park you will see
parking spaces on the left, park towards the top of the parking
area (there is no longer any fee for day use of state parks). If
you park here, start walking over the the top of the hill on Alta
Lake road and you will soon come to two white gates, follow the
trail to the big rock at the trail head (N 48*01.555 W119*56.548)
This is the beginning of the switchback trail which will climb over
1000 ft in 0.7 miles. BE WARNED - The trail is steep and narrow in
parts, but the views are worth the hike. At the top the trail opens
out to a meadow, follow the trail through the meadow to where the
cache is hidden. The cache is well hidden. Cache may be difficult
to access in the winter. Note: If the gates are open at the trail
head, you can park here, if not, park in the parking that was
suggested prior to the two white gates. I left an unactivated
Travel Bug for the FTF. Good Luck and Happy Caching. BIGGER NOTE:
This cache will be maintained by a local cacher and not the
original owner.
