This cache is hidden in Van Patten Woods. This park is open from 6:30 a.m. until sunset. The parking area is listed below. This cache is hidden off a grass and wood chip horse/hiking trail. Follow the gravel trail from the east end of the parking area. Trail maps are available at the park entrance.
Here's the story: The practice of communicating with spirits, ghosts, or other supernatural beings is anything but new, and is not much materially different today from what it was in the past. Spiritualism is a belief that departed spirits can communicate by means of physical phenomena, as by rapping (and other means), or during abnormal mental states, as in trances, which are commonly manifested through a medium.
Spiritualists believe in communicating with the spirits of discarnate humans. They believe that spirit mediums are humans gifted to do this. They also believe that spirits are capable of growth and perfection, progressing through higher spheres or planes. The afterlife is not a static place, but one in which spirits evolve. The two beliefs—that contact with spirits is possible, and that spirits may lie on a higher plane—lead to a third belief, that spirits can provide knowledge about moral and ethical issues, as well as about God and the afterlife. Thus... many members speak of spirit guides—specific spirits, which are often contacted (sometimes through modern devices) and relied upon for worldly and spiritual guidance.
