How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Now this one can be tricky to find. It is simply a flat magnet with a log taped to the backside. You simply flip it over, sign the log then place it back in the same spot. Be sure to keep out of weather whenever possible - the logs on the back get wet too easily. This one is intended to be up under the curved lid a bit to try to keep out of direct weather.

As a new Geocacher I saw comments about these types of hides, and looking at pictures in Google helped me understand what they looked like new, but seeing a real one hidden in it’s environment is a far better teacher for me. This one is home made so not the regular web purchased cache, but it works.

I thought I would do a series on types of caches out there and give examples for any new cachers. Included will be some of the more basic camo styles. I copied a lot of this information off (visit link)

I will bookmark all Geocaching 101 caches, then add a mid-term and final cache. (Bookmarks can be found on the right hand side of this posting, and at the bottom of the bookmark you can create a query of all listed caches to download to your GPSr - another thing I've learned the hard way.)

Once you have completed this series I will list you on the final as graduated - with or without honors....... (I will track and list the first 15 graduates only)

Congrats to sd-weiss for being FTF
