Take a stroll through the woods on a very well maintained footpath. At certain times of the year, the ground will be blue with bluebells.
You can either park in Dolaucothi Gold Mine's car park on the opposite side of the road or in the woodland parking area provided at the head of the path. Be careful to check all signage - currently (Aug 2025) the main car park is closed shortly after the closing time of the mine (5pm), but visitors are encouraged to park at the trial-head which remains open all hours. The woodland car park is open at all hours, it also has picnic tables, a bin for dog waste and a helpful map/information panel.
The cache is a regular small container with enough room for small swaps, it contained a coveted FTF trophy.
The path from the car-park to trackway is almost flat (-10m over 4 minutes walking). With the surfacing and drainage work over winter 2024 I'd consider this to be accessible (please feel free to comment otherwise). At the end of the wide path is a quite steep trackway going down the last 40m to the cache. I'm not qualified to judge, but I'm sure one of my friends would manage this in their motorised-chair.
Just over the bridge is an idyllic spot for a picnic, in a bit of a suntrap, with the babble of the river and wildlife around and about. The colour-coded walking trails continue through the 2,1000 acre Dolaucothi estate.
