Halfway Home Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Von-Horst: Had a quick look on the way to work this morning and the cache does seem to have gone missing.

We will be moving soon, and this cache will no longer be "halfway home" so we have decided that it is time to put it to bed... [:(]

Geocache Description:

Nano cache located in the centre of Bassaleg village. Parking nearby at village hall, short walk on level path.

We just LOVE little black nano caches so thought we'd make other cachers scream for once and place one close to home - well halfway between Mr V-H's office and home. As you will see Bassaleg is very proud of how clean and tidy it is, and every pretty place deserves a nano cache! There are often hoards of children swarming in and out of Bassaleg school - so stealth is required. Nano - please bring your own pen. Bassaleg lies on the outskirts of Newport on the A468 towards Cearphilly. Bassaleg's earliest known inhabitant was probably Saint Gwladys, a hermit and wife of St Gwynllyw or Woolos, who founded her own hermitage at Pencarnu, supposedly the site is at Pont Ebbw. While there she bathed in the Ebbw River and the Lady's Well at Tredegar may have been dedicated to her. It has been suggested that the site of St. Basil's church in Bassaleg was originally dedicated to her.
