THE PUZZLE
I’ve been a model railroader for more than ten years, and my Ossipee Valley Railroad occupies a 12’ X 12’ section of my basement. Like ALL model railroad layouts the OVRR is a work in progress. The OVRR is based on the prototypical practices of the Boston & Maine and Maine Central railroads in the early 1960s, and my roster of locomotives reflects the early diesel era. I have a number of EMD GP7s, GP9s, F7s, a BL2, an ALCO S1 and a GE 44T. While these are fine models and are prototypically accurate, I want to add steam locomotives for the WOW factor: visitors expect to see steam locomotives on a model railroad. The two steam engines I would like to model are a B&M Mountain steam locomotive and a B&M F steam locomotive. I’m not sure yet how I’ll use them on my railroad – railfanning perhaps – but I know the B&M used the Mountains to haul freight up the steeper inclines to Concord, New Hampshire and used the F series as a switcher in their Rotterdam, NY freight yard. If I would take time off from geocaching maybe I could start working on these models.

8-3-19 - There is a "new" house on the other side of the tracks and there are trails crisscrossing the area near GZ now, but cachers should have no trouble looking for the hide.
