Geocache Description:

The cache is in a building with lots of books!

Go to the coords listed above and solve the puzzle below which will give you the reference number for where to look for the final location! Come on in. You are looking for a book containing treasure other than words. This cache is placed with permission of the director and she'll be maintaining it in our absence.

Hours vary seasonally so be sure to check current hours before you go. Closed Sundays.

Being the parents of a librarian (a professional bookworm) when we found a similar cache in another town, we shared with her and set up this cache together!

The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC, also called the Dewey Decimal System) is a proprietary system of library classification developed by Melvil Dewey in 1876; it has been greatly modified and expanded through 22 major revisions, the most recent in 2003. This system organizes books on library shelves in a specific and repeatable order that makes it easy to find any book and return it to its proper place. The system is used in 200,000 libraries in at least 135 countries The system is made up of ten main classes or categories, each divided into ten secondary classes or subcategories, each having ten subdivisions.

  • 000 – Computer science, information & general works
  • 100 – Philosophy and psychology
  • 200 – Religion
  • 300 – Social sciences
  • 400 – Language
  • 500 – Science (including mathematics)
  • 600 – Technology
  • 700 – Arts and recreation
  • 800 – Literature
  • 900 – History, geography, and biography
