Geocache Description:

This is the fourth cache in a slightly irregular series highlighting some interesting spots around Alexandria, particularly Old Town. Time to up the difficulty a bit though.

City residents and vistors are all waiting for the Sacandaga Totem. Soon the 5,000-pound obelisk will arrive from upstate New York to take up residence in this little plaza at the intersection of King, Fayette and Commerce Streets. Even without the totem this is a busy spot with some interesting shops nearby.

Sculpted by artist John van Alstine, the totem was purchased by a resident and donated to the city. Unfortunately, budget woes have long delayed the installation at this site. Maybe some day it will show up. Until then please enjoy searching for the cache. Bring your own pen.

For pictures of the totem visit this link. Please rehide the cache exactly as you found it.

Congratulations to wetfit for being the esteemed First to Find!
