Cache Across Somerset - Bridgwater
(Westonzoyland)
Dont forget to note the bonus letter and number, please leave
the card in the cache.
Good luck.
The cache is about 5 miles East of Bridgwater at Westonzoyland.
This used to be known as RAF Westonzoyland from 1926 to 1968. Most
of the runways are still there and are used by a local microlight
club and model aircraft clubs. The old control tower and some other
buildings still survive, but have been out of use since the MOD
sold the land. The main runway runs East - West with no
obstructions above about 10 metres, so was ideal for heavy bombers
struggling into the air. In fact it was mainly used during WWII for
air combat and troop transport.
When you go through the village, see if you can spot a bomb next to
the road !!!
The cache is well hidden at ground level, please re-hide
appropriately. It is not necessary to enter the gate or cross the
hedge. With care, you could park within one or two metres of the
cache!
