Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the above location! This is the starting point of a night cache designed for small children.
This cache is off Holt Road in Allegany State Park, the start near
a gated road leading to a maintenance area. Please do not park at
the gate! The road junction is a few short steps from the start of
this cache.

Nothing is quite so dark as the woods at night. Walk with care. A
variety of reflectors will lead you to the cache area. This cache
hunt is designed so that if you stand at the spot of one reflector,
you should be able to see the next. If you do NOT see one and you
are on a road or trail, remain on the trail and move forward,
keeping an eye on the reflector behind you. There should be one on
the opposite side of the tree or post. Also remember that a
reflector on the opposite side will face the direction you want to
go.

Doubled reflectors mean a significant change in direction, but
NEVER a complete turn around - those red reflectors are to lead you out.
When you see a cluster of reflectors, it means you are in the cache
area. This area is no more than 5 feet from the tree thus
marked.

All night caches share the same equipment requirement: a good
flashlight. A strong LED flashlight (MagLight makes a nice product)
with fresh batteries and maybe some to spare in your pocket is
recommended. Holding the flashlight at eye level so that you get
the maximum “back flash” from the reflectors is the best technique
– most reflectors are made to directly reflect light. If you hold
your flashlight too low, you will not benefit from the reflection
coming back at you, or the reflectors will appear dim.

Nighttime cache hunts are by their nature slower and more watchful
hunts than daytime ones. Please hike carefully and mindful of
obstacles that in the daytime would be easily identified: logs,
stones, dead branches (including those at or near eye level) and
uneven terrain.

Do not try to go hunting for night caches with flip-flops or
sandals.

This cache was designed to be a child's night cache. That does not
mean ONLY children may search for it! But the cache has been
stocked with our smallest cachers in mind

Please don’t spoil the fun for yourself by hunting in the
daytime.

And DON’T aim your flashlight at other folk’s eyes!!
