Geocache Description:

A walk or a mountain bike ride to a high overlooking view of the Nepean River & Eastern Blue Mountains.

This is an Offset Cache where you need to answer questions about the Rileys Lookout to locate the actual cache. This is a 2.5km (5km return) walk / ride to a lookout located above Nepean River. The start of this walk / ride is at the end of Fairlight Road.

You will be overlooking the Nepean River & eastern side of the Blue Mountains National Park as well as Euroka Clearing & camping area. On a good day you will be able to see Bennets Ridge Track.

Travel to Mulgoa along Mulgoa Road & turn into Fairlight Road. It has a sign saying (Nepean River Lookouts 8km). Travel to the end of this road, the last section is dirt. You will reach a car parking area. From here you will start the walk or ride to the lookout.

Just before you start the walk / ride to Rileys Lookout, the National Parks have supplied an information board with great detail of the history of this area. The coordinates are S 33° 49.156 E 150° 37.124 After this, start the Rileys Lookout walk / ride.

As you are walking / riding to the lookout, stick to the main well used fire / 4WD track. There are some tracks leading of that go to other places. If you stick to this track you will have no problems.

At coordinates S 33º48.388’ E 150º37.813’ you will come at a sign (which is No 1 sign) that leads you to the lookout. From here it’s only a short distance to the lookout.
