Laborde Lookout Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Big Doggy: I'm archiving this cache to make room for the replacement that I put out this morning and uploaded the new listing a few minutes ago. If you want, you can go and make the find and post it when it gets approved. The coords are about 6 feet to the east of the old cache.

Geocache Description:

As part of my quest to ratchet up the terrain level for caches here in southeast Louisiana, I turned my attention to Laborde Lookout, named after a former City Park manager, Ellis Laborde. It is documented as the highest point in New Orleans at a towering 53 feet above sea level! That catapults the terrain level all the way up to a 2.5! (Okay, maybe just a 2.0 depending on your fitness level) Nothing special is required other than your gpsr and your affection for the great outdoors.

You’ll enjoy a pleasant walk along a newly mulch-surfaced nature trail, which meanders through Courturie Forest and Arboretum (visit link) . This 33-acre preserve took a beating from that nasty August 29 storm back in ’05, but recent efforts have done much to bring it back. Come out and see for yourself.

You're looking for a bison tube. While you’re in the area, you can continue along the trail, which takes you by some tree identification tutorial stations and some scenic bayou areas, so if you have your camera with you, you’ll find some pretty scenes to capture your experience there. Anyway, good luck and have fun.
