The Old Milwaukee Road Traditional Cache

Plenty of bushwhacking will be required for this one. You may want to consider wearing long pants to protect your legs from the briars. May not be a good cache to bring kids under 8 or 9 years old, or during spring floods. Please use your best judgement!
This cache is located along the first RR line built in Wisconsin. Originally known as the Milwaukee & Mississippi Railroad Company, the first passenger train traveled along this very right-of-way from Milwaukee to Waukesha on February 25th, 1851 (travel speed 25 to 30 mph). Tracks reached Prairie du Chien by 1857.
As a result of bankruptcy proceedings, acquisitions, and new owners, the name of the railroad in 1865 changed to become the Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Company. In 1874, the name changed again to become the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Company. It was at this time the more familiar name "The Milwaukee Road" came into use.
After being sold to the Soo Line in 1985, these tracks were soon abandoned. They are now part of the Fox River Greenway Corridor.
