Cache placed about 500 feet from the parking area at the Nayantaquit Trail trail head, Nehantic State Forest.
When attempting to find caches along the Nayataquit Trail, I noticed it was a good mile or so in before finding the first cache...but I liked this hike so much that I placed a cache near the trail head so that others will have a good starting point...and perhaps encourage others to continue...nothing like having an easy one to start the day!
The Nayantaquit Trail Map is in the image gallery and I strongly suggest studying it as it will help making finding the other caches easier.
The best place to park is the lot off of the access road, Kenney Road. Recommended route (unless you want 3.5 miles of bumpy dirt roads) is to enter the state forest from the north off of Beaver Brook Road.
The loop can be a challenging 3.5 mile hike, so prepare accordingly (bug spray, water, shoes, etc). Also, please pay attention to when hunting season is, and when in doubt wear orange!
The hiding spot might be somewhat of a high traffic area to curious hikers, so please re-hide the cache well. Enjoy the hike!!
