Geocache Description:

Camoed lock and lock marking one end of the Yorktown Road

There's two ways this series can be done and this could be your first cache or your last. If you walked all the way from Yorktown 1 then your journey as the crow flies has taken you 1.84 miles. If you start on this end and don't have a 4WD vehicle with good clearance, then you need to park here as the folks that live just up the road on the right won't want you parking near their home. There's no street sign marking the Yorktown Road but the cache is at the beginning. Yes, you will see a few Private Property signs on the side of the road, but the road is public and always has been. All cache placements are either within the right away of the road, or on the Thurston Park properties owned by the Town of China and designated as a public recreational use area. One good way to do this series would be with cars parked at each end, kind of a "through hike." For those with a spirit of adventure and the right vehicle, then drive on through! There are some fairly deep waterholes and ruts, but it's doable! I explained the history of the area in the description for Yorktown 1. LET ME MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT THIS ROAD IS FOR SERIOUS 4WD VEHICLES WITH GOOD CLEARANCE. SUBARUS AND LIGHT DUTY FORDS MIGHT NOT MAKE IT. IF IN DOUBT, THEN IT'S STILL A NICE WALK.
