Really For The Birds! Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is a cache for the more experienced geocachers. It might be a "park & grab" if you don your "geohat".
This cache is located at the Western end of the Upper & Lower Lakes Bird Conservation Area. There is a shooting house here for the handicapped that was installed under Federal Regulations for people with disabilities.
Many songbirds, waterfowl, wading birds, shorebirds, and birds of prey utilize this area including gamebird species such as grouse, turkey, pheasant, and woodcock. Some of the rare bird species to be found include the northern harrier, common loon, black tern, sedge wren, and osprey. Common mammals found on the area include white-tailed deer, snowshoe hare, cottontail rabbit, raccoon, and furbearers such as fisher, beaver, muskrat, mink, and otter.
This is a hunting area and consequently searching for this cache during the waterfowl season is STRONGLY DISCOURAGED especially if there is a vehicle parked in the parking area for the handicapped hunter area. Permission to place this cache was obtained in advance.
The container is a plastic matchsafe that has been very carefully camoed and hidden. There is room for the log only, so be sure to bring a writing instrument.
Good luck!
Congrats to Psyrett for the FTF!
