Geocache Description:

This cache is located about 1 mile from the center of Emerald, PA (The Emerald City) with wonderful views of the surrounding area.

The Wizard of Oz, based on the novel, first opened in Chicago in 1902 and on Broadway at the Majestic Theatre in 1903. It ran on Broadway for 300 performances, afterward touring the country until 1909. Before the novel was written, L. Frank Baum worked as a playwright, actor, and theater manager.
The Wiz first previewed in late 1974 and then opened in 1975, also at the Majestic, before moving to the Broadway Theater 2 years later. The Wiz is an all-black adaptation of the story told from the African-American perspective and contains hipper music and a modern flair. It ran for 1672 performances and won 7 Tonys, including Best Musical. There was a revival in 1984 and another revival is upcoming in 2009 running from June 12 - July 3 at New York City Center.

BYOP. This cache located on private property near the street. Permission has been obtained from the landowners and the closest neighbors have been informed as well. Of course, use discretion and stealth as appropriate. Please park on the road, not in the driveway and as always, be respectful of the property and please do not damage anything.

Cache is seeded with a bunch of emerald colored trade items and a small travel bug.

Rabbits, groundhogs, ticks, and a snake have all been reported nearby, so be aware!
